Fire Station, Dimapur-West was inaugurated on 23/07/2019 by Shri. Pohwang Konyak, Hon’ble Advisor, Fire & ES, SIRD and R&R in presence of officials from various Departments and Public leaders. The programme was chaired by Shri. Neilasa Sopfii, IG (F&ES). Er. Imsanenla Imchen, SDO, Police Engineering Project highlighted the details of this project which was funded by NEC. This project was executed by M/s. P. Suohu under the supervision of Police Engineering Project.
Shri. Pohwang Konyak, Hon’ble Advisor said that the concern Department have been striving its best to serve the public in spite of various constraints. It was also informed that Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services was bifurcated from Nagaland Police on 01/04/1990 and formed as a separate Directorate with 8 (eight) Fire Stations due to its technical profession. From 2011 onwards the Department had initiated various visions and activities with the approval of the State Govt. MHA, Govt of India had conducted a detailed survey about the requirement of Fire Stations in Nagaland. As per MHA report, Nagaland State should have 48 (forty eight) Fire Stations. Since 2011 our State Govt have established 7 Fire Stations at Chumukedima, Kiphire, Peren, Kohima-North, Longleng, Tuli and Dimapur-West. 2 (two) more Fire Stations will be inaugurated shortly. Therefore, within 8 years our state is going to establish 9 (nine) more Stations making it a total of 17 (Seventeen) Stations shortly. But the State still have a shortage of 31 Fire Stations. The Department will strive to achieve these requirements in the days to come.
In his conclusion speech, Hon’ble Advisor appeal to the public to cooperate with the fire fighters so that with public cooperation we can protect our life and properties from fire disaster.
